Through the program, they learned leadership skills and core elements of organizing and campaign development through a social justice lens. The goal of the bootcamp is to train youth to become knowledgeable advocates in their schools, so that they, in turn, can advocate on behalf of the LGBT members in their communities. Courses focused on cycles of oppression, power analysis, base building, campaign strategy, LGBT Pride organizing, Gay-Straight Alliance development, and restorative justice.
AQU 25 A aims to provide a safe space through events that include workshops, movie nights and game nights as well as individual counseling and case management. Community United Against Violence CUAV is a multicultural organization working to end violence against and within our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning communities. CUAV offers a hour confidential, multilingual crisis line, free counseling, legal advocacy, and emergency assistance hotel, food, and transportation to survivors of hate and domestic violence.
Societal factors such as bullying, violence, and discrimination heighten health risks for anyone. Recognizing these serious health risks, CDC works with national, state, and local partners to address the health, education, and safety needs of LGBTQ youth. Many studies consider lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth, but do not include transgender and questioning youth. CDC funds education and health agencies in states, territories, and large urban school districts to conduct the Youth Risk Behavior Survey.
Positive environments are important to help all youth thrive. Some LGBT youth are more likely than their heterosexual peers to experience negative health and life outcomes.

The Center provides a safe, fun, and confidential space for LGBTQ youth ages to hang out, access resources, and find community. We also provide referrals and service navigation, mental health services, a weekly meal night, and youth leadership development. During the summer we will be re focusing our drop-in services to provide drop- in navigation services.
Sub Menu contents. Purpose and History Center on Halsted's Youth Program, originally known as Gay Horizons, was founded in by fewer than ten young people. Since moving into the current Center on Halsted building, we have provided services to more than 2, young people across Chicagoland to help them realize their full potential through our vocational training programs, seminars and leadership development programs.
Understanding and expressing sexual orientation and gender and developing related identities are typical development tasks that vary across children and youth. For example, some youth may be unsure of their sexual orientation, whereas others have been clear about it since childhood and have expressed it since a young age. It is not a one-time event and personal, cultural, and social factors may influence how one expresses their sexual orientation and gender identity.
