The Fender Pawn Shop '70s Stratocaster Deluxe Solidbody Electric Guitar is a brilliant concoction of Fender goodness, all wrapped up in one incredible-looking, amazing-sounding instrument. You get a supremely comfortable alder body, a smooth-fretting maple neck, a Telecaster single-coil neck pickup, and a fearsome Enforcer humbucker at the bridge. You can take these pups from mellow to blistering with a twist of your pinky, while the '70s-style Strat hardtail bridge serves up epic sustain.
Learn More. Here's a used American Vintage '70s Strat, featuring all the cool specs of the original guitars including the bullet-style truss rod and big Strat headstock! The guitar has an alder body finished in white with a "C" shape maple neck, vintage 7.
I'm looking around Fender's latest offerings for Strats, and I see this black-on-black with maple fretboard limited run American Special that looks almost identical to my Squier VM '70s Strat, also in black-on-black with maple fretboard. The Fender has a body made of alder with a full profile while the Squier is basswood with a slim profile. However, both guitars have the same gloss black finish with urethane coating.
It had the Strat feel and sound that had been in my head for years. Fender hit the ball out of the park with these! Fender American Vintage 70's Stratocaster, natural finish.
The truth is far from that. Firstly, Leo Fender stayed on as a consultant after he sold the company to CBS, and even helped to develop new Fender models. And from a Strat-specific perspective, many of the features we associate with the pre-CBS era lingered on into the s — the Stratocaster we have here exhibits several of them. We can point to the four-bolt neck join, the pressed steel saddles with a patent application that was still pending and the steel vibrato block held to the bridge plate by three hefty screws.
